Director of making websites less annoying
Cameron Mathis — aka Director of Web Strategy & Services, for anyone reading this out loud in a meeting.
“I’ve wanted to work from home since I was a wee lad, you can ask my mom.”
Meet Cameron Mathis — a punk coded dude from Fresno, CA who knew the traditional path wasn’t for him. On his 13th birthday, gift money in hand, he bought his first digital camera. Following in the footsteps of his older cousin who was pursuing the artist’s life, he began taking photos and has been an entrepreneur ever since.
Cameron’s here to prove that dropping out of college doesn’t ruin your life (far from it) and a scrappy start can lead somewhere great. The great being Cameron Mathis Digital, where you are right now.
The scrappy-to-strategic part
Everything Cameron knows about marketing today he learned on the job, through peers, and his own research. After a short stint at a marketing agency, he left to pursue his own work, opening CMD in 2019.
Today, Cameron’s an expert on web design strategy, and has worked with numerous Fortune 500-level and recognized brands like Clif Bar, Clorox, Luna Bar, Bumble Bee Seafoods, and Zeiss Eyewear.
He’s helped clients scale ad spend to $100,000/month with a 3X return, led a complete digital rebuild to support breaking into a new millennial market, and launched a company from idea to fully operational in just six months through strategic tech and web direction.
After work you can usually find Cameron walking his dog Emmett, playing one of four instruments (drums, bassoon, clarinet, guitar) or on the golf course.
Cameron’s mission is simple: work with people, businesses, and projects that prioritize thoughtfully made design and a smart user experience. Oh, and folks who are cool and fun to work with. If this sounds like you, you should get in touch.
Cameron’s web pet peeves
Gross marketing popups
Popups that attack you before you’ve read the headline.
“Just one more thing”
Brands adding “just one more thing” until the website collapses under its own weight.
Expensive-looking, doesn’t work
Design that tries to look expensive but doesn’t work at all.
Strategy by committee’s cousin
Strategy patched together by somebody’s cousin.
Sloppy technical execution
The kind of thing that quietly breaks a form nobody checks.
Don’t let any of these happen to you. Get your shit fixed.
